Taikoza started their performance with a thunderous roar from the Taiko drums. Taiko roughly translated means big drum, they should add with a big sound, generally describes a particular kind of Japanese drum that is hollowed out from a solid piece of keyaki (zelkova wood) and skinned by stretching and tacking a rawhide over each end of the body. The four members of Taikoza played with amazing vigor and enthusiasm that from the very first thunderous roar the audience was captivated and in awe of this exciting musical group and their wondrous music. Members of the audience were keen to try their hand at playing and there was no shortage of volunteers when asked to participate. From small cymbals, bamboo flutes and the Taiko drums the music was both exhilarating and exciting.

With her 5-string electric violin Caryn Lin performed her “Bach 2 Rock” and from the first note captivated the audience. As she’s plays, snippets are recorded and are continuously looped adding layer upon layer of sound, the recorded snippets play back in an over deceptively simple melodies with the result being music that is both otherworldly and totally catchy.
For almost an hour Caryn mesmerized the audience, with tunes ranging from classical to rock and even used voices from the audience to incorporate into her music.

Tap Team Two dazzled the audience with their flashing feet and smiles. A Philadelphia-based, professional dance company, they use street tap, better known as hoofing, as the basis of their choreography. During the performance they showed the seven basic steps to tap and then encouraged and showed members of the audience how to “hoof”. With their bright and effervescent style, Tap Team Two not only had a great time performing, the audience also was carried away for a thoroughly enjoyable evening..
